this one was fun for me to write (DIALOGUEEEE) anyway Felicity's in Megaton now and broke as fuck

hi i was wondering how leon tackled the tenpenny tower quest. if he sided with the ghouls what’re his thoughts on them butchering everyone? and how does burke feel about it?

i am so glad you asked bc if there’s one part of fo3’s quests that’s always on my mind it’s burke and tenpenny tower.

SO i do have leon’s arrival a lil different from how it goes in-game. so lemme set the stage w leon and burke’s first meeting and then eventual reunion real quick before we get into that actual quest.

so it’s pretty standard at first. megaton was the first place leon goes after escaping the vault, and so he meets burke very early on. i won’t get into their extended conversation for now (but i do have some key differences) but essentially leon tells lucas simms about burke, burke kills lucas in front of leon, and then tells leon to sleep w one eye open. so from then on leon has the talon company hunting him down at the behest of burke (who is their boss, but no one outside the group—including leon—knows that).

and burke is so sure that leon will die that he doesn’t really think twice about it. just have to find some other way to take care of megaton (leon, being tech-savvy, does eventually help disable the bomb much later).

ANYWAY so main plot stuff happens. leon makes some friends, james dies, running from the enclave etc etc. the talon company keeps burke updated when they can, and though they haven’t said they’ve killed him yet, burke is certain it’s only a matter of time.

so at least a few weeks after james dies, after leon’s escaped raven rock, he sees tenpenny tower and doesn’t even initially register this is where burke came from until he makes the connection in his head like oh tenpenny tower -> tenpenny is the name burke mentioned. and leon atp is so…..hardened by what he’s been through, so much more unafraid, decides to just go up there once he’s let inside.

leon gets the penthouse and he and burke have their own “what in the goddamn…” type moment. leon glares daggers at him. but tenpenny is delighted to have a visitor and, once leon hears him speak and realizes he’s british, leon slips into his british accent which just makes tenpenny even more excited. burke has an internal crisis of 1) How Is He Still Alive and 2) he was NOT fucking british before. but burke has to play it cool. tenpenny has decided leon is his new favorite person, loves his tenacity and wit. tells him he must stick around for dinner, stay for tea. you should see the wasteland from this balcony at night. burke where have you been hiding this lad, he’s wonderful. cue a tense dinner scene.

tenpenny mentions something about the ghouls at dinner, burke elaborates for him, and when leon says they should just let them live there too, burke tells him where to find them if he wants to talk to them so badly—hoping the ferals in the tunnels will rip leon apart for him.

so leon makes it through to roy and his group, convinces them he’ll talk to the residents and that he can get them in and no one has to die.

so leon returns, talks to the wealthier residents, and while some groan about it and stay, a lot of them just straight up leave. but regardless, leon gets the ghouls in with relative ease. still shaky, but believing common ground and understanding can be found as long as there’s willingness to put in the work. but he can’t stay, he has his own work to do, so he says goodbye to roy and tenpenny, and burke offers to walk him out.

they’re at the gates, and burke leans in close. warns leon that he doesn’t like to be embarrassed, to be wrong. that leon should feel proud he’s the first man to live to do it twice to him, and that he will surely be the last. but leon knows burke won’t kill him now, not here, not like this. burke lets him go.

so leon goes on his way, continues his journey w the enclave and project purity and all that. doesn’t have time to return to tenpenny tower, nor is it really in the area of more pressing events. so he never sees what happens afterwards, nor is he aware what transpires in the years following.

during the rest of the events of fo3 and after, a lot is still going on at the tower. as we know, roy eventually kills tenpenny and burke kisses up to him instead, eagerly becoming roy’s new righthand man. however, probably about two years after the end of fo3, long after leon’s left the capital wasteland and the BoS is beginning to mobilize more and are actively setting their sights north, burke begins to put his own plans in motion. he’s waiting for the brotherhood to leave before doing anything drastic, but the gears are turning. once the BoS is gone, though, things change at tenpenny tower.

this whole time, burke wanted the tower for the talon company; another larger, more fortified and operational base (while still keeping their smaller units and taking new ones in the process). with no one to stop him, the number of remaining ghoul and human residents relatively small, burke just has the talon company (some of the tenpenny security were actually talon company mercs in disguise already) kill everyone so he can have it for himself. and this is leading into present day, leading into the main plot for my story about danse and leon traveling together a few years after the events of fo4. returning to the capital wasteland, finally putting an end to things w burke and the talon company.

this got away from me. longwinded version of saying i think burke’s been playing the long game. honestly can’t wait to go more into that leon/danse story bc i think it’s really interesting and i have some more OCs who show up in it that i think y’all will like.

anyway sorry this was long it’s just this quest plays into my post-canon in such a big way, i was so excited to talk about it!

Amata

She loves all types of hugs! and genuinely just enjoys being able to hug Lone

She is keen on throwing her arms over Lone’s shoulders and holding them as close as possible

Though, she also likes to wrap her arms around Lone’s waist sometimes, and enjoys resting her face in the crook of their neck (or on their chest for a considerably much taller Lone)

Butch

He is very hesitant with hugs, or soft affection in general

He much prefers if Lone pulls him in first rather than making the move himself

However, he is not opposed to pulling them in by their shoulders for a side hug

More intimate hugs are reserved for somewhat of a developed relationship with Lone; Where he is more willing to either engulf them completely in a hug, or squeeze them in close by their waist

Charon

He is hesitant with hugs as well, but for different reasons than Butch; He cannot remember a time where someone reserved a soft spot for him and therefore he would never be willing to hug Lone on his own will

Depending on his relationship to Lone, he would allow them to hug him as they please though he would remain very stiff

The only way he would hug back is if Lone consistently shows him reserved affection, to which he would then be more open to wrapping his arms around them after they pull him in

Clover

She appreciates a good, tight hug

She absolutely loves to catch Lone by surprise and hug them from behind, wrapping her arms around their waist and squeezing with all her might

She also enjoys jumping into their arms; For a stronger Lone, she has no issue completely jumping into their arms, however with a more fragile Lone, she tries to control herself and merely just lifts a leg around them

Gob

He will never hug Lone in public, or even really try to initiate hugs in general

He does enjoy hugging Lone, but he always has doubts about whether they should be touching him in such a way, if he even deserves that from them (he very much does)

He mostly prefers when Lone pulls him in and wraps their arms completely around him, as it makes him feel very secure

Jericho

He tries to pretend he doesn’t enjoy hugs as that is a kind of affection he has never really been familiar with

However, if he grows more attached to Lone, he really can’t help himself from wanting to pull them in close

He likes to wrap one arm around their waist and pull them in for a sort of side hug, urging them to wrap their arms behind his neck

He also enjoys pulling them in from behind; He’s a sucker for surprise hugs no matter if he’s giving or receiving

Lucas Simms

His hugs are always quick in public and long in private

He loves hugging Lone, especially after they’re gone for a long time; However, he does still have many duties to attend to so when working, he tries not to get too distracted with Lone

But, in private he will have no issue with engulfing Lone completely in a bear hug and staying like that until the ask to be released

Sarah Lyons

Her hugs are very, very reserved

No matter her relationship with Lone, she will always prefer to keep any PDA to a minimum

But with that, she absolutely loves to wrap her arms completely around Lone and just hold them in privacy

For a more intimate relationship, she enjoys urging hugging more into cuddling

Three Dog

He has one goal with hugging Lone; That is to always make them feel loved and appreciated

His hugs always vary based on how he perceives Lone’s mood and what kind of hug he determines they need in that moment

One of his favorites though, is always to pull Lone in by their hand until their chest touches his and he uses his other arm to wrap around their waist

Started FO3 a hard way

I consider this game is old enough to talk about it in detail.

So, after the massive amount of time I spent on FO4, I considered it's time to see the infamous Capital Wasteland

I started to play a few weeks ago, and it took me a while to realize that the shouldn't have it as hard as she had.

After Amata told Caitlin about what happened, she entered sneak mode and crept out of the Vault like a criminal, avoiding almost every and anyone, crawling as quick she could. Okay, she saved Butch's mommy, Amata gave me a 10mm pistol, what came handy when the security chief wanted to stop me.

Naturally, I left the Vault and went to Megaton, and looted the place empty to gather enough caps to start my journey.

It was only after Lucas Simms died and I looted his Chinese Assault Rifle to use that my fiancée told me; there were weapons in the Vault, my BB Gun, among other things that I never found in my panic.

It's official now; Caitlin MacLaine was so under the effect of recent events that she ran like a little mouse. It will be a long road until she becomes the BoS Sentinel that can single-handedly clear metro stations and saves mistreated scribes from humiliating duties.

plot: Lone gets romanced!NPCs attention by saying “hey honey”

“Hey honey, could you pass me that screwdriver.”

Amata

“Yeah, you got it, love.” She chuckles at the foreign word to Lone and hands over the tool, admiring them as they get to work.

Butch

“Er, yeah. You, uh, tryin’ something new?” He didn’t want to come off as surprised at their words, but can’t help himself from questioning them as a blush forms on his face and a goofy grin spread over.

Charon

On the outside, Lone’s use of the petname doesn’t seem to phase him. However, on the inside his heart is beating a hundred times faster, his mind goes empty, and he cannot form any words as he simply hands the tool over to Lone.

Clover

“Heh, I was wondering how long it’d take you to come around, lover.” She’s no stranger to petnames, but finds Lone’s use of them much more comforting and intimate.

Gob

“Here you go!” He cheerfully hands them the tool and simply admires them as they work, thankful his skin couldn’t show his deep blush—knowing he would be redder than the label on a Nuka Cola.

Jericho

“You want a hand with that, kitten?” At hearing Lone’s use of the petname for him, he is instantly at their beck and call (some would even say he’s whipped).

Lucas Simms

“Certainly, hun.” He finds comfort in hearing their use of the petname come so naturally to them.

Sarah Lyons

“Heh, uh, well yeah…” She blushes and hands the tool over to Lone, avoiding their gaze as to hide her reddening features.

Three Dog

“Mm, whatcha workin’ on, sweet pea?” He questions and returns a petname as he hands over the tool, hiding his big grin from hearing Lone effortlessly use the petname.

“Hmm… nothing too flashy. Maybe on my shoulder here, just an outline of somethin’.” He would allow Lone to choose the marking, settling with the outline of a mushroom cloud on his shoulder.

“Oh, honey… come here.” He accepts the ring and pulls her into his arms comfortingly. The gesture means more to him than she will ever know and he will try his best to never disappoint her.

“As much as I want this, I need to know your intentions are in the right place. One date won’t hurt, but I’m going to need a smile or something as an affirmation of this going somewhere.”
